OTLEY PUB CLUB

presented, in July 2016 -

A Civil War battle from 1644, alongside a 17th Century 'Living History' exhibition. All re-enacted by Colonel Robert Overton's Regiment of Foote and other representatives of the Roundhead Association and the English Civil War Society. It will take place alongside the river Wharfe in the beautiful market town of Otley, West Yorkshire, on July 2nd & 3rd, 2016. Please come to Otley by public transport, or park your car in town, and take the 15 to 20 minute walk through picturesque riverside gardens to Prince Henry's Grammar School sports field, where the event is being held. If you want to buy a picnic in town to take with you, there are lots of lovely local butchers and bakers who sell quality pies and sandwiches and cakes! [There are also plenty of pubs where you can enjoy a drink before setting off, or when you come back before heading home.]

Even on the way to the event there are plenty of places to stop. The Horse and Farrier is the last pub out of town on Bridge Street, that leads down to the river, and that's followed closely by Brown's traditional fish and chip shop. On the main road just over the bridge by the park gate is Number One Park Gate, for take away paninis or sandwiches and drinks. And if all that weren't enough, there's a cafe in the park itself, where you can sit outside with toasties, burgers, hot snacks or coffee and cakes, and watch your children enjoying themselves in the playground right next door. If you can drag yourself away from all that - there'll be food and drink at the event itself.
